What is TOBA?
We are a group of Texans who are concerned about maintaining the rights of the people of our state to access our beaches. We use the term "our beaches" because by state law the right to access the beaches in this state, from the waterline up to the vegetation line, belongs to us, the people of the great state of Texas. TOBA GOALS First and foremost, to maintain beach access rights for the public in Texas, as granted by our state constitution and laws. Beach maintenance, preservation, and enhancement via beach cleanups and christmas tree dune projects. Prevent access and beach protection laws from being weakened to benefit developers and to create defacto private beaches at the expense of meaningful public access. Encourage state and local stewardship of our beaches from a viewpoint where the primary goal is to benefit the public, not business. Education about proper beach etiquette, and responsible beachside development. |
Important Notice If you, or anyone you know, is an attorney willing to get involved in this fight for the Open Beaches Act, please contact us at webmaster@texasopenbeaches.org. You can change the history of our state...for the better...for your children and generations to come. |
